RX-78-2 ver OYW by [elliottric]

Sorry for the long absence, i just got back to KL and was busy with my personal things. Hopefully everything is all sorted out now.

Although gunpla-ing is my main hobby, my progress is also quite slow. During the earlier years, when i was still a newbie, i would just snap them up and give them a coat of paint. Now, I've started to do modification and that takes more time and requires lots of idea. When your out of idea, you are in deep shit!!! everything will be stagnant.

On the other hand, i also need to balance out my personal life, work life, etc…so that's why my completed kits are not much as well. erm…i kinda made a decision that gunpla-ing will be made last in my prioritization list. [SHE] comes first, the rest are second, third, etc..and gunpla is last. sorry guys!!!

Hence, i decided to open up and other section in my blog called “Guest Modellers” where i will try to feature some of the works of my fellow friends.

OK, guess I've been typing way to much stuff liao…

Please enjoy the below work of elliottric from Zero G forum.

Its such a privilege to have him as a friend. Many of us actually owe him a lot, lending us his workshop with unlimited set of tools and agreeing to our adhoc request to buy his spare accessories. Thanks man!!!

Wonder if you win the competition, will you be rewarded with RM1 Million or an official “Datukship” awarded to you?

Anyway, GOOD LUCK BRO!!! Have a safe journey. Bon Voyage!!!!!

A [Corner] with a twist of [Supply]

Ever wonder why your built “Gundam Model Kit” right out from the box is totally way different from the one you see in the recent BAKUC 2008 Gundam Modelling Competition.

image courtesy of [Klay] from Zero G forum

Well, its simple. Modification was done to it. Just like you see on the street, a Proton Waja has been modified to look like a Mitsubishi Evo.

Mecha Modification varies from:

  • Custom Paint scheme
  • Custom decals
  • Add on parts from Kotobukiya
  • metal parts
  • Pla-plate (styrene sheets) for detailing or for Scratch Building additional parts
  • joint modification for better articulation
  • etc…

So WHERE do we buy all the accessories to buff up our mecha? You can try to scout the local Hobby/toy shops around Klang Valley. They do carry some of the items listed above and prices varies from one shop to another.

Instead of wasting your petrol on travelling to look for such shops, why not try to shop online?

Throw your mother old shoe!!!

I heard my mum laughing all the way from the computer room and decided to go and take a look.

To my amazed, she way playing some online game. I still remember there was the “Michael Jackson baby dangling game” when Jacko and his baby hit the news.

This time, would could have imagine that someone managed to attack the US President with the unimaginable weapon of all, a pair of stinko SHOE???

Bush was damn lucky not to get hit, not once but twice he managed to dodge it. Maybe the guy was a lousy thrower.

Well, maybe you can put yourself in the shoe of the thrower and start some shoe throwing session. (click on below link to enjoy the game)

Where?

Every wonder where to get cheaper Gundam Model kits? Before this, I use to patronize the major shopping center and I always spend more than I should have too.

Below are some tips for you to make a wise choice in the future.

1. On each box of the model kit, you will be able to find the “YEN RETAIL PRICE”. This information can be used as a comparison to the actual price that is selling in your respective countries. So you will know if the price your paying is worth it or not.

2. Join your own local Gundam Forum! Why? This is because you can grab good offers from fellow members that are selling them. Sometimes, they can be drop dead cheap or you might stumble upon a rare kit that you always wanted to get. Why are they sell cheaper, you asked? Well, maybe he/she might have a financial crisis or trying to clear away the collection he/she had

3. Do some scouting and look for model/toy shops around your area. They are definitely selling at a much more cheaper price than the major shopping center*. There are quite a no. of shops around Klang Valley, Malaysia and for the same model, the price varies from one shop to another, so be smart.

* applicable for Malaysia. Not sure if that is the same with the neighbor countries

4. Online shopping will do you good as well.

5. From time to time, our local authorized distributor will have Warehouse sales. This is the time to get some cheap model kit(s) that are being offered. But take note, the offer is just/might be limited to 1-2 selected model(s) only.

Hopefully the above tips can help you save some $$$. With the current economic, every single cent counts. Gunpla modelling is no cheap hobby!!!!

Workshop by SFTPMS [heads up for readers in Klang Valley, Malaysia]

Sorry for the late notice, the workshop is going to be held this coming Sat(20/12/08).

And the great news is that is FOC!!!

This event is good for those who wanna venture into the world of Plastic Modelling.

How did she do it..

how was the previous video?? what was the most interesting part that caught you attention???

1. few "leng chai"s was featured in the video[4:10 - 4:13]
2. two (kawaii, かわいい)???!!???!?!? cosplay gals which can be seen throughout the video
3. the small 7 yr old gal who won the junior category for the competition held
4. the unmistakeable fake hand [3:51 - 3:52]

i would go for option [1], no doubt about it...so many leng chai ma!!! see already,my saliva come drooling down..

ok be serious and stay focused.

i believe it would be option [3], How did she $#@&$*&^ do it???

a small gal who cant answer all the question yet could come out with this winning entry for the junior catergory..OMG!!!!! unbelievable????!!!??!!!!!! i bet some of the beginner modellers also cannot come out with such work.

No, this is not about sour grapes but its more on integrity.

Rumor has it that this has been going on for the pass few years. The entry was done by their family member (someone who has the skills) and they will submit the entry using their relative's name which qualifies for the junior cat [14 yrs old and below].
wats the prize???
RM500 Cash + Trophy + Gundam Model Kit (limited editition) [its not a limited edition anymore, the organizer just took one of the expo kits that was on sales and treated it as a prize, the price tag is still there as well. DAMN!!!!] + Representing Malaysia to the BAKUC Universal Cup in Hong Kong.

Elebroration:

Representing Malaysia to the BAKUC Universal Cup in Hong Kong: since for junior cat entry , the modeller is too young to travel alone, organizer will sponsor 1 parent (either mum or dad) to travel along as well, from air ticket to accomodation..all part of the prize..sound cool rite??

too fellow gundam modellers out there..u know wat to do next year right??? hahaha.....

Strike Gundam Ver. Acheo [updated on 10/12]

One day while browsing through a gunpla modelling forum http://z3.invisionfree.com/Zero_G i stumble upon a thread posted by one of the member.

it was a youtube video about some guy in a gundam suit doing cosplay.

Quote "
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_auihsV-7YWow, I found this clip about someone cosplay as Gundam Exia from Gundam 00 series doing some caramelldasen/dancing. What I'm amazed it's not at the dancing but at the suit. The suit it's one of the most best gundam cosplay suit I've ever seen. Not bulky as the other's, kinda accurate and anime lookalike. See it for yourself. " unquote

hmm..i thought to myself, well i think i should be able to come out with one myself too. So i embarked on a journey and came out with my very own version..

ta da!!!!!!

my life @ my work @ my gundam

It's still not to late to start blogging perhaps. My posting will be more about my hobby, Gundam Modelling and maybe some day to day stuff..hope you guys and gals will enjoy...

Recently (14th Nov - 20th Nov), Litt Tak Sdn Bhd organized a gundam modelling competition called "BAKUC Challenge 2008" at Sg Wang Plaza, KL.

As a modeller myself, I participated in the event as well. I decided to take on a bolder move by doing something totally different and i'm proud of my work although i walked home empty handed.

Stay tune for more pics of the completed work and WIP (Work in Progress) pics.
